The Magic Show

Once a month, Katie’s school has family night.  Tonight we went to watch a magic show.  Hannah never fails to amuse and surprise me.  At least 5 times during the magic show, Hannah would bust out laughing or start clapping and squealing.  The funny thing about it is that she would do it at the most inappropriate times.  Like when the magician was setting up his props for his next act or 30 or so seconds after everyone else in the crowd had finished oohing and aahing and it was all silent.  I mean, either she didn’t get the magic show at all and was just trying to fit in or she really was thrilled and amazed at him putting stuff back into his trunk.  Then at the very end of the show, the magician asked if anyone had any questions.  Hannah raised her hand and when he called on her, she proudly declared to the audience “My mommy and daddy love to………(long pause)…….(really long, uncomfortable pause)……………………..(I’m starting to really sweat what her next words are going to be at this point)………EAT FOOD!  I’ve never been one to blush.  Even in really embarrassing situations, I’ve never felt my face get red, but tonight I know I was as red as a beet.  I was really, really nervous about what she was going to blurt out at the end of the long pause!
