A Little Bit Of Pretty In The Gloom

Our house is so old that the basement is literally like a dungeon.  The walls are made of stone and brick and the beams that run across the ceiling of the basement are huge thick hunks of wood that you can tell were chopped from a tree and put straight onto the house.  It’s cold and damp down there and don’t even get me started on the camel crickets that reside down there and lie in wait for me to come down so they can attack me.

The basement also happens to be where the washer & dryer are.  I was standing down there throwing in a load this morning and I went to look out the window and this is what I saw:

That would be one of the Morning Glories that are planted out just on the other side of that window.  It somehow found a way in and I have a pretty little bloom to look at while I’m doing laundry in the dungeon.

That’s what you can do to cheer up ‘the dungeon’…bring in some planters and put them down there and plant some morning glories and let them grow up the walls! They’d probably grow down there year round!

What a nice surprise I bet that was!!

wonderful idea, christy! I planted those in May and they have gone nuts. I could have a morning glory wonderland down there! 🙂
