My Big 8-Year Old

Katie turned 8 on January 2nd.  I wish I could slow down time a little.  It’s going way too fast for me.

She wanted to go ice skating  but when they got to the rink, it was closed.  So, they opted for the roller rink instead.  I was sad to have to miss out on all the fun, but they had a really good time.

Turns out Katie is better on roller blades than she is on skates.  Remember this post?  When she was afraid to let go of the bar?  Well not anymore!  She was tearing up that roller rink this time!

Here’s my MIL and her BFF.  They came along to help Brian out with all the children since I am still chained to the couch.  Brian thought it was so funny that they skated.  Apparently he believes that life ends after 50.  Not me, I plan to skate til I die or at least until I’m wheel chair bound.

My sis and my step-son getting their roll on.

Thanks Christy – and yes, she is a happy child, always smiling and always laughing. I love that! And very goofy – like her mother.

Cute! Looks like she had a good day. I tried to skate a year or two ago. Didn’t come back so easy. But I would do it again.

    Happy Belated Birthday, Katie!
I love that you have such a close family and how they all volunteered to help out in your absense!

Looks like so much fun!!!! Is it sad if that’s how I’d like to celebrate my 29th birthday this year?

No way! We skated for her birthday when she turned 5 and I swear the adults had way more fun than the kids. I think that sounds like an awesome 29th birthday party!

We had a blast! We missed you though, sister!
I was thinking we should start a roller skating derby league in Columbus…….whatcha think? LOL!

Katie was so cute all night. She kept having trouble with her skates at first. I think she had on 4 different pairs. But once she got that straightened out she was good-to-go!!

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY KATIE!!!

    Love you all!
