Crockpot BBQ Pork Chops

This recipe is so good and very easy.  I really like it for this time of year because cold weather equals crock pot time around here!  And the pork chops are so tender and delicious.  The BBQ sauce gives it a heartiness that is perfect for fall and winter.

You can use bottled BBQ sauce.  Or you can go over to Stolen Moments and make this sauce.  (Which is what I did this time)  It’s really good and very easy to make.  Or if you’re feeling really adventurous, you can make the sauce below.  It comes from the Susan Branch Summer book and let me tell you, it is really good!

Kitchen Sink BBQ Sauce

2 T. olive oil
1 med. onion, chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
14 oz. ketchup
1/4 C. worcestershire sauce (or Woozy, as we call it in our house because we can’t pronounce worcestershire)
1/4 C. soy sauce
1/4 C. beer
2 T. maple syrup
2 T. cider vinegar
1/2 t. dry mustard
1/4 t. salt
1/4 t. cayenne pepper
1/4 t. tobasco

Saute onion & garlic in sauce pan til limp
Add rest of ingredients, stir & bring to boil
Simmer 15 minutes
Store in fridge

Now for the easy peasy pork chop recipe:

However many pork chops you want (I used 4)
1 onion, sliced
1 C. BBQ sauce
1/3 C. honey

Put pork chops in crock (mine were frozen)
Add onions
Pour BBQ sauce over chops

Cover and cook on low 4 hours
Turn chops over and cook another 4 hours

And because Brian’s grandma gave us a bunch of green peppers, I’m gonna chop some of those up and throw them in towards the end.  Yum!

I had fully planned on making baked mac & cheese and potato wedges to go with this.  (We really love our carbs around here!)  However, a friend dropped by and I ended up sitting on the porch for close to an hour talking to her, so I just threw some taters in the microwave and we had baked potatoes.  That’s another great thing about this being a crockpot recipe.  I had the luxury of just being able to sit and chat instead of rushing her off so I could tend to dinner.

I do realize that almost every time I put a picture of something I made on here it ends up looking rather gross, but I promise you, these chops are good!  The BBQ sauce has a tendency to darken and thicken in the crockpot.  But the pork chops are fall-apart tender and really yummy.

My husband loves slow cooker pork chops, and you can’t beat that for easy! The BBQ sauce that you listed sounds really interesting, I may have to give it a try, I already know we love the Stolen Moments one. You could probably take the pork chops out of the pot, and thin the sauce with a little broth or water before serving if you don’t like it so thick.

That’s a really good idea about the broth. I will do that next time, thanks!

I saw your recipe for this & had to try it,so yesterday I pulled my frozen chops from the freezer ,I used all 6 of them(cause they were sort of frozen all together) & made the B-B-Q sauce (from the recipe).

I have to say, my family members are not big pork chop fans,(they roll their eyes & do that slient inword grown- when I announce ever so proudly-We’re having pork chops for dinner)

Well, let me tell you, those chops were so tender, they fell of the bone and the sauce was really tasty. I had one left ,which my husband CHOOSE to take for his lunch today !

    Thanks for sharing the recipe.
