Our Special Day

Recently, Brian and I decided that every once in a while, we would start taking each of the girls and doing something special with them separately.  So, this past weekend, Katie and I went off together and Brian and Hannah went off and did their own thing.

These are the things that Katie chose to do for our special day:

Go to Pizza Hut for lunch

Go the “big” library in the neighboring town and do research on supposed “haunted” places around our state, then tuck ourselves into a nook and read for a while.  We also used the micro film machines to pull up the newspaper from when she was born. (She was the New Year’s baby and we had a couple of articles in the paper)

Walk from the libary to the Dairy Queen and get ice cream

Go for a walk down by the library and look at all of the big, historic houses around there

We also wanted to take the architectural bus tour, but it had just left on it’s last run for the day when we got to the visitor’s center, so we’ll leave that for another time.

We had such a great time together and we met up with Brian and Hannah later in the day (Hannah chose a movie and some ice cream for her special day) and shopped for Halloween costumes.

Next time, Nanner and I will go together and Brian will take Katie.

It was so fun spending a whole day with you Katie!

And here I was feeling bad about myself BEFORE I got to your blog!!! Must pull the covers up over my head and cry now.

You Rock! I love your family. Can I be your daughter? Or sister? Or something?

    🙂

Thank you, you are definitely like one of the family to me! But why are you feeling bad about yourself? I’ve missed your posting on your blog!

I love that idea! I know many families who do this and the kids love it… as do the parents 🙂

By the way — thank you for stopping by and for your comment.

I don’t know which group had more fun! A movie or the library, either one would have been fun.
    Looks cold up there. Brrrrrrr!
I’ll bet that ice cream was good, even if it was cold out.
