Thankful

I was sitting here today thinking about how good we have it.  “We” being Americans.  I think that most Americans really don’t realize how lucky we are.  There are so many others out there who are living in true poverty and we sit around stressing because we have to entertain the idea of applying for food stamps.  Well, I for one am finding myself thankful for the option right about now.

I’m thankful for the priviledge, because it is definitely a priviledge, of being a stay at home mom.  For being able to create an environment of peace and comfort for my family.

I’m thankful for my girls.  They are good girls.  They bring Brian and I so much joy and laughter and happiness.

I’m thankful for our small town school.  Thankful for the fact that Katie has a teacher who genuinely cares for her and takes an interest in her.  And thankful for the other adults, parents, grandparents etc. in that school who volunteer their time and also take an interest in my child and the rest of the children.

I’m thankful that even though we may be “struggling” right now, that we don’t know what it means to truly struggle as so many in other countries do.  Thankful that I’m surrounded by such caring people who are praying for us and offering help to us.

I think that in today’s world, we all really need to take a look at our lives and realize how much we have to be thankful for.

I’m not trying to sound like a Hallmark card or anything here, I know I usually keep things light and funny on here (and I fully plan on returning to that soon), but I just want everyone reading to know how much I appreciate all that you’ve done for us and how thankful I am to have you in my life.

And coming up next time on Klutzy Mama – pictures from the Teltoe Farm!

Amen! Even the poorest in America are ten times better off than so many millions around the world. I for one am thankful for clean drinking water, a warm bed to sleep in and food on our table! Great post, I love you guys and am still praying for you!

Your posts have definitely hit that message home for me. I will be losing my job 4/1 and I’ve not been able to find a job in the year that I’ve been looking (despite recently finishing my MBA). I know that hubby and I will be okay – even if I’m waiting tables or working retail to make ends meet. I’m so thankful that we have the things that we do – and your situations has helped me remember that.

Here at the Fencepost, we try to live within our means. As I am sure you do too. I am just so thankful that we do not have a lot of debt to worry about since losing my job. We’ll be okay for now. I’m not worrying about what I don’t have. I’m concentrating on being thankful for the things I do have.
    Great post!

I completely agree with you! We are so blessed…and I love the other comments…even though everyone is having struggles everyone is thanking God for what they do have! I blogged about that same thing this week, but I got some horrible comments (I didn’t post them!!)…people were telling me that YES, we DO have it horrible in America and there are homeless and hungry and I need to wake up. I just don’t agree…I know there are homeless and hungry and people are dealing with some major struggles (and my heart goes out to them, and I ache for them) but we’re still a very blessed nation. Thank you for the post…I think you worded it a WHOLE lot better than I could have!!
