Cold & Rainy Sunday

It is Sunday morning and I am sitting in my chair contemplating what to do with this day.

I’ve got 2 sicky-poo daughters upstairs sleeping and I am hoping that by allowing them to sleep in today, they are gonna wake up feeling better this morning.  They went to bed last night with red cheeks & sore throats and Hannah didn’t even eat supper.  Now my throat is a little tickly this morning.  😦  So, we are staying in and resting today.  Which really stinks because we were to start a new Sunday school series this morning and now we are missing the first one.

I also have one exhausted husband upstairs sleeping who has had quite a hard transition from first to second shift.  For the past 3 years, he has been accustomed to getting up at about 10 AM.  He is now getting up at 3:30 AM and it has definitely taken a toll on him.  All most definitely worth it though.  We’ve all been enjoying him being on day shift.  Hopefully it won’t be too much longer until he is used to his new routine.

Right now it is storming, dark & grey outside.  I am thinking that perhaps some crochet or reading may be in order for the day.  Speaking of crochet, I don’t think I ever posted a picture of this afghan that I started last year.

Well here it is all finished & being put to good use.

This is the warmest thing!  I love it.  However, I probably would never make one like it again.  It is actually 4 pieces that you then sew together and I didn’t enjoy that part of it at all.  On the one side, it looks really nice, but on the other side, you can very plainly see the seams, so I’m not crazy about that.  But I do like snuggling with my girls underneath it. 🙂

I’m also working on something SOOO cute right now!  I’m not even gonna say what it is, I’ll just show you when it’s done.  It’s so stinkin’ cute!  But I need to get over to Mamaw’s house because I’m stuck on this one part & can’t seem to figure it out.

It is certainly yucky looking outside right now…

Rather cold out there right now too.  A typical spring day.  I think I’ll put the coffee on, sit here in the quiet and listen to the thunder and maybe get my bible study done before everyone starts waking up.

Have a great Sunday.

We didn’t go to church either and it was a blah day until about 5ish and then the sun came out and my mood got better. Hope the girls are better soon.

Glad you got your spirits lifted, Gretch! The sun can do wonders for that. 🙂

Hi Donna! 88 sounds wonderful compared to what we’ve got right now. But I don’t blame you – I wouldn’t turn the air on either. Every year Brian & I go into battle over the AC. I want to hold out as long as possible and he’s ready to run it as soon as the temps near the 80’s. You should try crochet. There are lots of websites that have great videos that can teach you. It’s a little tricky in the beginning, but once it clicks, it is really fun & relaxing. Have a great day!

That afghan is very pretty. Love the colors, so warm and inviting. I could see myself napping under it. LOL
I hope the girls are better today and that you didn’t actually get “it”, too.
Can’t wait to see the cuteness you are working on.
I like the idea of your bible studies at home. I really need to get one started for myself. Do you have some sort of structure to your bible study? I know I used to just open the bible up and study where the pages fell.
I love stormy days. So relaxing.

Thanks Becky. Katie was better today, but Nanner stayed home from school. Still got a sore throat & a cough. We just finished a sunday school series at church that has really changed the way I do my bible study. I’ve learned to really “look” at a passage and that it is always helpful to go back & read the synopsis at the very beginning of the chapter (if you have a study bible) and get the background information and learn about what was going on at the time that book was written. It really helps me to get a better understanding of what I’m reading. I don’t have one set bible study that I do. And sometimes I will go to http://www.truthforlife.org/about/about-alistair-begg/ and listen to Alistair Begg’s broadcasts. I really enjoy them. They are about 20 mins long. I also like doing Beth Moore’s studies, which you can probably find at any bible book store. Some don’t like her, but I really do and the one I just did on James was excellent. Other than that, sometimes I do just like you and just open up the Bible & dig in wherever I find myself. 🙂
